What are the Jaycees?

Young adults (18-40) of any race, creed, or
color.

group dedicated to community improvement and
personal betterment.

stimulus to community spirit.

group that will readily accept the challenge of
a difficult community project.

International in scope - there are chapters in
over 100 countries and territories.

Recognized by government and business leaders at
every level as an organization which
develops new community leaders through
constructive action.
Put
simply, we are the organization of choice for men
and woman 18 - 40 years of age who want the best
opportunities for leadership development,
volunteerism and community service.
The Junior Chamber (Jaycees) organization is a
constructive action organization of young persons
who devote a portion of their time to community
service in the public interest, developing young
persons as leaders of their community. (Taken from

Policy Manual.) Offered are activities in three
development areas:
Individual Development
Community Development
Management Development
The Jaycees offer you and every young person the
following opportunities:
Friendship:
In the
Jaycees, you become part of the sharpest group of
young people in town and no matter where you might
be transferred or move, there is a nearby Jaycee
chapter, a ready circle of friends. People who
believe, as you do, in taking action to improve the
world around them.
Service:
Your work in the
Jaycees will make you a valued citizen because of
your contributions in
service; working to help youth, the needy, and the
neglected. You are working to build a
community that is more than just a place to earn a
living.
Self Improvement:
Through
the years, Jaycee leadership training has guided
thousands of young people into better jobs and more
secure social lives. In Jaycees, you gain experience
in public speaking, organizing your thoughts more
effectively, and expressing them more confidently.
You learn to organize your work, making more
effective use of your time, on the job and off. You
learn to work with people and to get people to work
with and for you.
Career Advancement:
Being a Jaycee implies
to your employer(s) and others that you are
ambitious and enthusiastic, ready to tackle any job
and assume any responsibility. As a Jaycee, you
assume responsibilities usually entrusted to older,
more experienced people. When advancement
opportunities arise, you will be prepared for them.
Community Recognition:
In Jaycee activities, you become known to civic and
business leaders in your community. You
work with other groups and leading citizens in a
variety of prestigious projects. You will be
working with today's leaders for a better future for
you and your community.
